Blandisi scores lone goal in 67's 2-1 loss to the Frontenacs

It did not look like a good start.  With only 33 seconds into the opening frame, Henri Ikonen picked up his 7th goal of the season after he banked in a sharp angle shot off of Jonathan Duchesne’s skate in front of the net.  That was Ikonen’s 14th career point against the 67’s in 10 games.

Hoping to avoid a repeat of their 7-4 loss earlier this month when the Frontenacs also got off to a quick lead, the 67’s regrouped and fought harder in the last half of the first period. Their hard work paid off and forced the Frontenacs to take penalties.

The 67’s went 0-4 on the powerplay, but the extra man-advantage gave them a lot more momentum leading to more scoring chances.  The 67’s outshot the Fronts 10-4 in the first 20 minutes but were unable to solve backup goaltender Lucas Peressini in the Kingston net.

67's Blow Out Short-Staffed Petes

While it may be a problem most nights that the Ottawa 67’s don’t have a defenceman over the age of 18 after the injury to Mike Vlajkov, experience wasn’t a problem on Thursday night in Peterborough, as the Barberpoles took advantage of three Peterborough veterans sitting out, rolling to an 8-1 win.

Stewart, a native of Greely, was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers in the 6th round in 2011.  He played 33 games with the Rangers last season and had 2 goals and an assist.  The London Knights claimed Stewart off the waivers in September.  He only played three games with the team and did not register any points.

Otter Connor Brown with 4 assists in 6-2 win over the 67's

Playing with only 5 defensemen, the 67's got off to a great start against the best-in-the-West Otters.  It was the 67's who would draw first blood after Sam Studnicka knocked in a rebound past Oskar Dansk in the Otters' net for his second of the season.

Quick goals not enough, 67's fall 7-4 to the IceDogs

NIAGARA - The Ottawa 67’s woes continued tonight as the 67’s dropped a 7-4 decision to the Niagara IceDogs to kick off their 4-game roadtrip.  Nevin Guy and Brett Gustavsen were one of the few bright spots both earning 3 points on the night and ending with a positive plus/minus rating.

A pair of first period goals from Leafs prospect Carter Verhaeghe put the 67’s down 2-0 after the first 20 minutes.  Verhaeghe capitalized on his opportunities catching Philippe Trudeau out of position after making two big saves on a two-man advantage.  He backhanded the puck into a wide open net to open the scoring. His second goal came off a great individual effort catching both Jacob Middleton and Trudeau flat-footed.  Verhaeghe extends his goal streak to six games and his point streak to 10 games.

Preview: Sudbury Wolves @ Ottawa 67's - Oct 13

A bounce back game is something both the Ottawa 67’s and Sudbury Wolves will be looking for when the two clash this afternoon.  Both squads suffered a big loss on Friday night.

The 67’s fell 5-1 to the visiting Guelph Storm.  Brendan Bell had the lone goal.  Coach Chris Byrne was happy with the effort level, but not the end result.  The loss came at a bigger price when both Adrian Sloboda and John Urbanic left the game with injuries.  Sloboda was hit and fell awkwardly into the boards injuring his knee.  He is expected to miss 7-10 days.  Urbanic took a puck to the elbow on a clearing attempt but his status is unknown as they had to take x-rays.  With Mike Vlajkov already out for an extended period of time, this could be a taxing loss – especially on a young blueline.

Bell Scores Shootout Winner as 67's Edge Petes 3-2

By Kathryn Jean

Brendan Bell was the shootout hero in the Ottawa 67's 3-2 victory over the visiting Peterborough Petes Sunday afternoon.

It wasn't the prettiest of wins, but it was a big win against an interdivison rival so close in the standings.  The shootout win gets the 67's one point within the Petes for 7th spot in the Eastern Conference.
